Loading... Please wait...The Hexagenia mayflies are a burrowing nymph that lives most of its life in the silt on the bottom of lakes or very slow flowing rivers. When they hatch, which is usually in the July-August time frame just before dark, they make a tremendous meal for nearby trout, bass, or any other fish. If you are so lucky to have Hex hatches where you're fishing, take along some Hex nymph patterns to swim along the bottom prior to the hatch. Size 6.
