Scientific Anglers backing is strong, thin, and has minimal stretch. It is good quality backing, easily ties nice knots, and lasts for years and years. We generally use 30 lb. backing on rods that are 8-weight and up, including most Spey rods. 250 yards is enough to fill most reels in the 8- to 11-weight size range.
