Scientific Anglers' XTS Gel Spun Backing allows up to 75% more backing capacity than standard backing. It lasts for years, has extremely high abrasion resistance and maintains 100% of its strength when wet. Use Gel Spun backing when you need more backing capacity on your reel but make sure it is very tight on the spool or it can bury into itselt. We offer XTS Gel Spun backing off of our bulk spools and will professionally load the exact amount you need onto a new reel if you purchase the reel and backing together.   If you are not also purchasing a reel/spool, we will just load it onto a plastic spool.

To order the XTS Gel Spun Backing, please indicate the number of yards you would like by ordering that quantity. For example, if you need 150 yards, change the quantity to 150 for this item.  Be sure to choose either left-hand or right-hand retrieve to indicate which hand you reel with. (Choose "No Reel" if you do not wanted it loaded onto a reel and we will load the backing onto a plastic spool).
