RIO's AFS (Advanced Flight Spey) Shooting Head is a short, floating, Scandinavian-style shooting head that features a long front taper for a smooth turnover and a more delicate delivery than what is usually experienced with short, compact heads. This compact design and long front taper makes them a nice fit on shorter Spey rods and underhand style casting, and also makes them very easy to cast and achieve distance. They were also designed with the idea of using Poly Leaders which are used just like a regular tapered leader plus a length of tippet to the fly.

The tip of the RIO AFS Shooting Head is a stealthy olive green color for spooky fish while the rear 15 feet of the head is yellow so the angler can easily see it and control the line.
