The original commercially offered Skagit line, Rio's Skagit Spey Body includes the head and running line and ends in a loop for you to choose your own sinking -tip. Skagit heads have three main advantages over other types of Spey lines; they are easy to cast, they cast giant flies and heavy sink-tips with ease, and they require very little room behind you so they are good in tight quarters. Shorter rods are often used with Skagit-style lines and very short, quick casting strokes can launch a Skagit head a mile. With Skagit lines, the head (including the tip) should be three to 3.5 times the length of the rod. To adjust the length of the head, purchase a Rio Skagit Cheater to achieve the proper length and load. For a selection of sink-tips, we recommend Rio's 15ft Sinking Tips or attaching your desired length of Rio T-14 or T-11. Each head is 27.5 feet long. The entire line, with running line, is 120 feet. The line is marked between the rear taper and running line so it is easy to identify where to cast.
