The new Waterworks-Lamson Konic Reels were introduced in 2008 and have created quite a stir in the market for an excellent quality, very affordable reel. The Konic uses the same ultra smooth, sealed, conical drag design as its more expensive cousins, like the Litespeed and Velocity. The difference is that the reel frame and spool are not made of machined aluminum. Instead, the Konic is made of pressure cast aluminum alloy which is then anodized and finished with a polyurethane coating for scratch resistance. In all, the Konic is an exceptional value for anglers looking for a good reel with a great drag system and an excellent price.
